my first attempt at the paper doll project. it took me a sec to figure out how it all is supposed to fit together but in the end i think i got it. and i tried to put his facial features on different sides of his head but i dont knoe how it will look but i thought he would end up looking stupid or slow you know wonky eyed. i imagine him saying "ggrr..duuh..."

this is an image from the codex seraphinianus. it is a encyclopedic book written in an undecipherable language about an unknown place. all the illustrations in the book are super trippy and unique. the book written by Luigi sarafini is about 360 pages and $400+ so i have never actually been able to look at the real thing. sarafini was an italian artist/designer in the 1970s.

favorite spot

this is a photo my girlfriend Laura took in Bend at our favorite swimming hole. i guess i like it because this is how i felt when we first stumbled upon it. we thought we were trespassing and tryin to be sneaky but the path opens up to the best spot on the deschutes. oh yeah! but we spent about a million hours tanning and swimmin and laxin in the sun. its a good memory. makes me wanna go back.

scratch 2

look out for this guy when the moon is out eeow!

here is a scratch i did. i used to do stuff like this in paint all the time but PS opens up so many doors and tools. i had a bit of trouble with coloring stuff in quickly but have come up with some tricks of my own to make things quicker.

this is an image of a Bert Grimm tattoo. Grimm was a big name in tattooing for years. he started when he was 12 in 1912 and continued for the next 70ish years. i really like him because of his art and he started in portland my home town. Bert Grimm is rad check him out if you like tattoos.

here is one of my self portraits. i was attempting to takne pix of the other and saw my reflection. i like the repeates idea of being in a window in this. there are elements of the foreground that are seen in the reflection and then the fact that i am being reflected in a window through a window taknig a picture through a tiny window. its weird

I spent a while carrying a camera around waiting for the right stranger and then I just started taking photos of every one. through all this though i didnt have any quality photos until i saw this old dude cruizin around and snapped one as he passed. I feel like the thing that i take out of this assignment is to go after it and take a ton of pics because in the digital world it is better to have more to work with than less.

this is my pic of another, this lovely lady is my girlfriend laura. i took a few in the same sitting and ended up with two i really liked. i tried to compress the background while still maintaining some solid elements like the two trees and the phone pole in this one. anyway thats what i came up with

this is at grizzly peak near the summit earlier this month. my girlfriend, laura, took the photo. it was hard to pick one of these to add to my blog because she took so many rad pix but this one stood out because of the clouds and the defused back ground and back lighting. i think it is a very powerful composition aswell, there is a strong use of thirds with the washed out white juxtuposed with the defined blacks and browns. and besides all that it was so awesome up there the view was to die for and we could see above the clouds. it was sick!
